Madi Chwasta is a percussionist and journalist based in Melbourne. She completed a Bachelor of Music at the University of Melbourne in 2015 and has studied under Eugene Ughetti, Peter Neville and Sergei Golovko. Her dedication and passion for percussion has seen her succeed in various competitions.
In 2014 she was a semi-finalist in the Australian Marimba Competition. She has been a regular participant in the Speak Percussion ‘Emerging Artists Programs’ in 2011, 2012 and 2015, where she collaborated with members of Speak Percussion and other emerging artists from around Australia on various chamber music projects.
Madi was also selected to perform in both the VCE ‘Top Class’ and ‘Top Acts’ Season of Excellence in 2013, based on her VCE Music recital. She has performed with the Melbourne Youth Orchestra, the Australian Conservertoire of Ballet Orchestra, and the University of Melbourne Orchestra and she has performed as a soloist with the Kooyong Chamber Players. In addition to performing, she writes regularly for Re:hearsal Magazine.
