Peter de Jager is one of Australia's most exciting up-and-coming pianists. His repertoire is diverse, stretching from early music on various historical keyboard instruments, to standard and contemporary piano music, as well as cabaret and musical theatre. He has three times attended the Lucerne Festival Academy, directed by Pierre Boulez, and in 2011 was the first winner of the Australian International Chopin Competition. His compositions are starting to gain attention, with recent commissions by Astra, the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra and Speak Percussion. Peter is a finalist in the 2015 Symphony Australia Young Performers Award, and was awarded the 2014 Freedman Fellowship, for which he will travel to Europe performing a solo recital, as well as commissioning a new piano sonata from Chris Dench.
