Joshua Hyde is an Australian saxophonist based in Paris. Co-artistic director of soundinitiative, he also performs with duo scapegoat (AUS/CAN), Module Quartet (Vienna), standardmodell trio (Paris), and is invited to perform with musikFabrik (Cologne) & Ensemble Intercontemporain (Paris).
In the past year he toured North America with scapegoat premiering pieces by Mauricio Pauly, Emily Howard, Matthew Sergeant & Peter Ablinger, premiered a new concerto for tenor saxophone by Elliott Gyger with the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra for the King of Thailand’s birthday celebrations, performed at the Klang Festival (Copenhagen), the Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), the Paris Philharmonie, as well as concerts at les Rendez-Vous Contemporain (Paris) and l’Espace Maurice Fleuret (Paris).
After completing his studies at the Victorian College of the Arts, Joshua moved to France where he studied with Marie-Bernadette Charrier (Bordeaux) and Vincent David (Versailles) before being accepted into the Paris Conservatoire where he completed two masters degrees, with Claude Delangle (saxophone) and Hae-Sun Kang & Frederic Stochl of the Ensemble Intercontemporain (chamber music).
