After graduating from studies in piano, composition and electronic music, Franco Venturini developed his skills in performance with Michele Campanella and the Trio di Trieste at Accademia Chigiana in Siena and in composition with Ivan Fedele at Accademia Santa Cecilia in Rome. He subsequently attended composition masterclasses in various international institutions, such as the Centre Acanthes in Metz and the Internationale Ferienkurse für Neue Musik in Darmstadt.
Venturini completed a Master’s in Composition at Paris 8 University and an artistic residence in the Italian Culture Institute in Paris. The prizes he has won include the PRIX Mention Spéciale A. ROUSSEL and the PRIX SACEM in the 8ème Concours International de piano d’Orléans and the modern recorder project – International Composition Competition 2008 of Musikinstitut Darmstadt.
Venturini has played in concerts in various countries: Italy (Bologna Festival, Nuova Consonanza in Rome, REC Festival); France (Salle Cortot in Paris, Matinées du piano in Orléans, L'imaginaire in Strasbourg); Spain (Centro de arte Reina Sophia in Madrid); Austria (Schönberg Center); in Biennale de Zagreb and in the Festival Slowind Ljubljana, collaborating with musicians such as M. Pintscher, N. Isherwood, G. Knox.
Compositions by Venturini have been commissioned by the Biennale Musica of Venice, the foundation Arena di Verona and the Expo 2015 de Milan. His compositions, which have been broadcast on radio, have been performed in Biennale Musica in Venice; Festival MITO in Milan; Pharos Arts Foundation in Cyprus and Musikprotokoll in Graz by internationally recognised interpreters, including Klangforum Wien; Proxima Centauri; Quartetto Prometeo; Trío Arbós and Orchestre National de Lorraine conducted by J. Deroyer.
Venturini lectures in contemporary pianistic language and analysis at conservatories and universities. He lives in Paris.
