Benjamin Marks is a member of ELISION Ensemble and specialises in the performance of contemporary music, including collaborations with visual artists and free improvisation. With ELISION, Benjamin has been involved in many recording and performance projects, including the recent KAIROS release of chamber music by Brian Ferneyhough, a CD of solo and chamber music by Richard Barrett, Aaron Cassidy, Klaus K Hübler and Timothy McCormack on the CeReNeM label and HCR (Huddersfield Contemporary Records).
In 2013 Benjamin gave the premiere of a triple concerto by Ann Cleare with the ITÉ Orchestra in Dublin, Ireland. Benjamin also performs with other Australian and international ensembles, including the Camerata of St John’s and the Queensland and Singapore symphony orchestras, and has been a guest performer at the Australian Chamber Music Festival and Bangalow Music Festival. His compositions have been premiered by the Libra Ensemble, Mark Knoop, Ensemble Offspring, ELISION (Huddersfield Festival of Contemporary Music) and the QCGU Brass Ensemble, with various pieces being broadcast on ABC Classic FM.
He is currently teaching trombone, directing the brass ensemble and pursuing a Doctorate in Musical Arts at the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University.
