Rohan Dasika is a double bassist currently completing his second year of studies at the Australian National Academy of Music in Melbourne, having graduated from the Australian National University School of Music in 2012. His teachers have included Damien Eckersley, Max McBride, Eric Ajaye, Sylvia Hosking and Duncan Allen.
Rohan has performed as a casual member of the Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney Symphony Orchestras, as well as the Sydney Sinfonia and the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra. He has acted as guest principal double bass of the Camerata of St. Johns, and in 2013 was the double bassist in the Victorian Opera Tango Neuvo Ensemble, performing a season of Piazzolla's “Maria de Buenos Aires”. 2014 has seen Rohan perform in Dortmund, Essen and Cologne as a member of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra Academy, and in Sapporo, Osaka, Nagoya and Tokyo with the Pacific Music Festival Orchestra.
Rohan also maintains an interest in jazz and improvised music, and has performed at the Magnetic Island Jazz Festival with the Miroslav Bukovsky Sextet, at the Capital Jazz Project with the John Mackey Quartet, and at the Canberra International Music Festival with Wanderlust. He currently plays Brazilian music around Melbourne as part of the group Altija.
