Peter Dumsday studied piano at the Melbourne and Hobart conservatoriums with Michael Kieran Harvey, graduating with first class honours in performance. Since completing his studies, Peter has attempted to break down the walls that exist around classical music and especially contemporary Australian art music.
In his various solo recitals, he has combined his traditional performance with improvisation, popular music styles, maltreatment of the piano, and even some manic stage-laughing/zombie-walking.
Peter is also an enthusiastic ensemble musician, having performed with Arcko Symphonic Ensemble and Astra Chamber Music Society, in the jazz/funk band King Armadillo on keys and synth, various trios of different combinations, and most recently on synth in Matt Brown’s improvising experimental trio XIBE8.
