Peter de Jager

Peter de Jager is highly sought-after Melbourne-based pianist, harpsichordist and composer, performing in many different genres, including music theatre. He studied piano at the Australian National Academy of Music, and is currently on faculty there as an Associate Artist.

His compositions are steadily gaining attention, and he has most recently completed a piece for double ensemble for the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra. He travelled to the Lucerne Festival Academy in 2009, 2010 and 2013, on the most recent occasion performing the demanding solo piano part of Messiaen's Turangalila Symphonie with the Academy orchestra, directed by David Robertson.

In 2011 he was the inaugural winner of the Australian International Chopin Competition. He has just co-written and performed Reception: The musical with actress/singer Bethany Simons, which enjoyed a sellout season at the Butterfly Club.
