Jocelyne Rudasigwa was born in La Chaux-de-Fonds in Switzerland in 1975 and is of Swiss and Rwandan heritage. She began playing bass at the age of 16 years and in 2001 earned a teaching degree at the Lausanne Conservatoire in the class of Michel Veillon. She undertook further study in the class of Wolfgang Güttler at the Basel Conservatoire, from which she graduated in 2004.
Jocelyne has taught for several years at the Conservatoire de Fribourg and enriched its educational approach by introducing the Suzuki methods of Virginia Dixon in Copenhagen. Jocelyne Rudasigwa has a varied musical life, appearing in contemporary, classical, jazz and popular music, and improvisation with groups including Boulouris 5, Eustache and Ensemble Vortex.
Her musical language is centred around modernism and exploration. Jocelyne’s creative interests also see her working in numerous theatrical productions. She is currently preparing a solo hybrid performance work.
